Automating Email Forwarding to an Enclave Inbox

This document explains how to enable automated email forwarding to your enclave. You can submit incident and alert information directly to your enclaves using a variety of techniques, including email.

This procedure is useful when you have automated alerts set up in your inbox and want to automatically submit such alerts as a report to your TruSTAR enclave.

Automatic Forwarding in Microsoft Outlook

  1. At the top of the page, select Settings > View all Outlook settings.
  2. Select Mail > Forwarding.
  3. Do one of the following:
    • To turn on forwarding, select Start forwarding, enter the forwarding email address and select Save.
      Note: Select the Keep a copy of forwarded messages check box if you want a copy of the original message to remain in your mailbox.
    • To turn off forwarding, select Stop forwarding and select Save.

Automatic Forwarding in Gmail

  1. Log into the Gmail account you want to forward messages from. You can only forward messages for a single Gmail address, and not an email group or alias.
  2. In the top right, click Settings.
  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab to display the Forwarding settings.
  4. Click Add a forwarding address.
  5. Enter the email address you want to forward messages to.
  6. Click Next  Proceed  OK.
  7. A verification message will be sent to that address. Click the verification link in that message.
  8. Go back to the settings page for the Gmail account and refresh your browser.
  9. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  10. Select Forward a copy of incoming mail to.
  11. Choose what you want to happen with the Gmail copy of your emails. TruSTAR recommends keeping a copy in your inbox.
  12. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
